Gold PS3

Video games are awesome! I love playing games on my spare time, but a game is a game and it should not be viewed as anything else other than a GAME. With this economy, no one is expecting to buy much other than the necessary and maybe some other inexpensive materials. Of course, this does not necessarily apply to everyone. The individuals who are fully loaded with money are an exception so why not try this…

THE NEW PLAY STATION 3 IS OUT. This new 24-karat gold plated Play Station 3 will be the absolute joy to all those video game lovers. Not only will they still be able to enjoy all of their favorite games, but now they can have a video game that is made out of real gold! Who wouldn’t want a PS3 that is made out of gold? Unless of course it costs $4,999, then we have a problem.

The PS3’s are not exactly inexpensive, this results to many individuals already not buying the popular PS3 in the first place. Now why waste time and make a gold PS3 and sell it for $5,000. Not even if I had the money would I buy a gold PS3, that’s what jewelry exists for.

Honestly, having a gold play station is not such a bad idea but I would not throw away all that money when I could buy the originals at a way lesser price. Then again, I am sure this game is only advertised for the wealthy. And if they have all that money to throw away like if it means nothing, why not do it? It will be perfect for them, well only if they love to play video games as well.

12 Year Old Child Rescues Father

December 5, 2009 by mvcm5

http://www.sacbee.com/topstories/story/2368992.html

I do not believe there is anything more beautiful than a child rescuing the lives of one of their family members. 12-year-old Daniel Marsh is now a hero for saving the life of his 60-year-old father. On November 9, Daniel’s father Bill Marsh said he began feeling some pain in his chest which for him became overwhelming. He told his son he might be having a heart attack and decided to go straight to the hospital.

They were driving fast at 50 miles per hour with traffic on the way. Only a few minutes away from the hospital Bill’s heart stopped. Daniel noticing the reaction of his father took immediate action. He couldn’t get a hold of the break so he unbuckled his seatbelt and went for the break, got a hold of the steering wheel and managed to keep from crashing into all the cars. Instead he crashed into a wall where he slammed his fist on his father’s chest hoping that would help  him breathe again. Daniel got the idea of the slamming fist onto the chest from watching the show House.

About a minute later, Bill was breathing again. No one helped, but when Daniel’s dad was himself again he drove all the way to the hospital. Once at the hospital with Daniel at his father’s side the nurses told Bill that he was dead. Bill believes that if it wasn’t for his son he would be dead right now. Thanks to Daniel, that is not the case at all. Daniel and 13 other residents of Yolo County were honored today at Red Cross chapter’s annual Heroes Luncheon at the University of California, Davis.

Learning With Cell Phones!

November 28, 2009 by mvcm5

http://tech.yahoo.com/news/ap/20091127/ap_on_hi_te/us_schools_cell_phones

Our lifestyles are slowly changing, as if that is a surprise. Slowly we are accommodating to new ways of life, and changing the old school strategy and flipping it into something useful. I am talking about cell phones in school. Of course, when we think cell phones and school, we say not going to happen! We individuals, primarily those who are in High School or Middle School would agree that their schools do not allow the usage of cell phones in class or on campus. But now in some schools, that policy has changed.

So how are schools changing this policy? A great example is Wiregrass Ranch High School who has begun to use cell phones as an important part of doing schoolwork. Ariana Leonard, a Spanish teacher had students waiting anxiously for their lesson to begin. She had asked them to take out their cell phones and all were willing to do it. Who wouldn’t be happy to use their cell phones freely in class? Because cell phones have become more advanced, with email and everything you typically do in a computer, it’s become like using a mini computer. “Spanish vocabulary becomes a digital scavenger hunt. Notes are copied with a cell phone camera. Text messages serve as homework reminders.”

Being so, the usage of cell phones in class has been an advantage to teachers. Even though the point of cell phone usage is for educational purposes, students seem more willing to learn knowing that they are allowed to use their cell phones in class. It is fascinating after all the negativity brought up by cell phones to know that cell phones can be turned into something positive like learning. I really like this idea being used in schools simply because students don’t have to hide their phones all the time just because they are not even allowed to look at it. It ends with a more positive note, and it will be something that all students with a cell phone can enjoy.

Abercrombie Is So Yesterday

November 21, 2009 by mvcm5

http://finance.yahoo.com/career-work/article/108199/abercrombie-is-worn-out-and-quickly-fading

Nothing lasts forever, a cliché statement very well known throughout the world and this new breaking news proves it. The once popular Abercrombie & Fitch has suddenly been going down the drain. It’s interesting how Abercrombie & Fitch was the must wear clothing throughout all teens in the United States. Of course, back then our economy was not as horrifying as it is today. A&F was never the type of retail store that includes sales for the whole world to enjoy and buy products. Oh no, Abercrombie & Ficth was always that pricy store in which everyone wanted to be a part of.

Well not anymore.

Considering the prices, and the new fashion amongst the teens, Abercrombie & Fitch is no longer a must wear. It has lost its fame, and its prices are not helping either. Kristin Graham the writer of this article, agrees with the retail store and I quote, “to not run around its stores with red pens slashing ticket prices.” Her purpose of viewing it that way is simply because once A&F start reducing prices and then it goes back up in the stock market, people will still be expecting to see those low prices. And maybe that is not such a great deal for our not as beloved Abercrombie & Fitch.

It’s unfortunate for Abercrombie to take such a poor turn, but it’s something most expected. With an economy like this, prices like those, and teens searching for a new fashion Abercrombie will lose its ultimate touch. As of today, it already is. It’s too bad for A&F especially with the great smelling cologne of theirs. But hey, as I said in the beginning, NOTHING lasts forever.

Friday the Thirteenth (paraskavedekatriaphobia)

November 13, 2009 by mvcm5

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091112/ap_on_re_us/us_fea_lifestyles_friday_the13th_phobia

Today is the “unlucky” day of Friday the 13th, where you have to be careful nothing “unlucky” happens to you. My whole thought of Friday the 13th was nothing serious. From my point of view Friday the 13th is just a bunch of nonsense to frighten people into believing that they will be cursed with bad luck on this given day.

Of course, there are some people who could care less about this date and continue on with their lives. Others on the other hand are scared! Today is the day for these believers to change all plans for a future date. Unfortunately, there is a fear or phobia with Friday the 13th that grows in people who actually believe in this tale. This phobia is called paraskavedekatriaphobia. “They’re afraid something tragic or ominous would happen,” said Donald Dossey, a North Carolina behavioral scientist and author who said he named the fear — paraskavedekatriaphobia — proof that he does not suffer from hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, the fear of long words.” The phobia of the date was brought about by the phobia of the number 13 (triskaidekaphobia).

Known individuals like Henry Ford and Franklin Roosevelt were two people who had feared Friday the 13th. As the saying goes, Henry Ford refused business every Friday the 13th all for the fear that something tragic may happen. Franklin Roosevelt would not be caught traveling by train beyond Friday the 13th. He would change his schedule for his train to deport before midnight on Thursday the 12th, or after midnight on Saturday the 14th.

“It’s a day when people rearrange travel plans, delay surgery or just pull up the covers and stay in bed until Friday the 13th turns into Saturday the 14th, convinced that even stepping out of the house would cause bad luck to find them the way an anvil finds the head of Wile E. Coyote.”

I would have never thought that people would ever be scared of Friday the 13th, but I suppose I am not surprised for this fear that has grown in people by all tales they grew up hearing about. It’s interesting to know what people would do in order to avoid doing anything on this date. I for myself, have plans for the rest of the day and I am not planning on rescheduling.

They See “No Evil”

November 6, 2009 by mvcm5

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/27/police-people-watched-gan_n_334975.html

On Friday night, a 15-year-old girl was raped by a gang, while (as police reported) as many as a dozen people watched the whole crime.  Two suspects were sent to jail on Monday but those were just two of the few men who are responsible for this action. Police assume that about 5 other men are in charge of attacking the girl. The rape had taken place outside of Richmond High School and  lasted over two hours.

As the story goes, the girl went outside to meet with her dad who was supposed to go pick her up at school. Once outside, one of her classmates showed up and invited her to join a group in the courtyard who were all drinking. By the time the assault began, she had already drunk a large amount of alcohol. The girl was not only raped, but she was robbed and beaten. Her dad noticing she was not around went in search to find her.

What is most tragic of all, the young girl had suffered and not one person reported the wrongdoing of those men. This should not be surprising, but it still shocks me how some people can be so cruel as to let such a horrific occurrence just go by like it has no importance. “The San Jose Mercury News reports that onlookers laughed, took pictures and even joined in the crime.” It’s really pathetic how this world just keeps on going from bad to worst. How is it possible that out of the many people who saw the rape finds it as an entertainment?

Finally, one girl who took the situation seriously decided to take action. “Police were finally called after a female student overhead people talking about the rape. She called 911 and told dispatchers what she had heard. When officers arrived on the scene, the assault was still going on. Several suspects fled as officers found the girl naked from the waist up.” The victim was found somewhat conscious near a picnic table, and was sent to the hospital with no life-threatening injuries.

It’s not only the fact that the girl was raped that makes this story awful, it’s the way the witnesses reacted that is most appalling. It’s regrettable to know the kind of people we have living around. Seeing a girl being raped in front of their eyes and it meant nothing to them, to some it was merely a joke. What a terrible joke, everyone gets a laugh while the girl could have been facing death. What if the table was turned on them? What if they were being raped, and no one did nothing to help them? I don’t think it would be so hahaha for them once someone is through with them.

It’s really disappointing to know numbers of people with so much corruption in their heads.

Controversy over Tyra’s Bi-Racial Photo Shoot

October 30, 2009 by mvcm5

http://tv.yahoo.com/news/article/tv.accesshollywood.com/americas-next-top-model-creates-stir-after-biracial-photo-shoot-20091029

We all know Tyra Banks as the famous former Victoria’s Secret model, and for her new show “The Tyra Show,” but we also know that she comes out in “America’s Next Top Model” in search for someone with the qualities of a model. In her new cycle of ANTM, she came up with the idea of turning her current models bi-racial, therefore, most of their skin color had been darkened. Each model was representing a different nationality, and so forth. The models were a tad confused over the situation but “some members of the press are calling it foul.”

It seemed to some that Tyra’s idea of creating a bi-racial photo shoot was because she is racist. “E! News asked whether the shoot was “Racy or Racist?” noting the girls were “coated in creams to darken their skin tone.” According to them, this was Tyra’s form of making all her models appear as if they were black. No one knows why she must have done this, only she knows the whole cause of her plan, but some do not agree with this idea.

The problem here is that if Tyra really is racist, why would she have shows on “The Tyra Show” were the whole topic of racism is discussed. I have seen a couple and I have not yet noticed her being prejudice over other cultures, nationalities, or skin color. But if she really is racist, wouldn’t that make her a hypocrite? Now, let’s say she is not being racist, does that mean the people who disagree with Tyra’s bi-racial idea are racist?

Maybe so.

It all goes down to this society still being racist, and will continue to be racist probably forever. There is never going to be a time when someone is not going to discriminate another because of their skin color. What should it matter if Tyra decided to arrange a bi-racial photo shoot, it’s not illegal, at least not that I know of. But it’s not only that, it’s the fact that some believe that it is wrong to operate such a concept. “AOL TV, ran a recap under the headline “Tyra Banks Puts ‘Top Models’ In Blackface. When Did This Become OK?” Her point of the photo shoot was to create a bi-racial theme, not to turn them black, so why must black be the answer to this problem? It seems to me like the real racist ones are those who are making a scene for interpreting and judging on the purpose that the models are being “turned black.”

There is a difference of being bi-racial and black, if people are still being ignorant about this cause then it sure sucks to be them.

“Balloon Boy”

October 24, 2009 by mvcm5

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091023/ap_on_re_us/us_balloon_boy_search

Now in case we thought people could not get any weirder, there is one woman that seems to prove this all wrong. According to court documents released today, Mayumi Heene lied to the police about her 6-year-old missing son. Apparently, this little boy was hidden inside a runaway helium balloon. That however was never the case. “She allegedly told investigators the incident was a hoax meant to make them more marketable to the media.” I guess in her eyes, the media was being a tad bit boring and she wanted some fake juicy news to go around. Of course, knowing that it is a false case grabs more attention.

It would have been unfortunate to Mayumi if her son really was gone, but to make up such a story like this one is sad. Mayumi and her husband knew all along that her son was actually hiding inside the residence. This occurred during the time that the investigators were looking for the “lost child” inside the house. This had been a plan that was brought about two weeks earlier by Mayumi and her husband Richard Heene. “She and Richard had instructed their three children to lie to authorities as well as the media regarding this hoax,” the affidavit said.” Now to make the case a little worst, these people had the decency of instructing their children to go along with the plan and lie to everyone about their missing child.

Because of their crazy scheme, consequences have been met. Unfortunately for them, Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden has stated that he will put charges on them for “conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, making a false report to authorities, and attempting to influence a public servant.” The most serious charge will be based on spending six years in prison and felonies. It serves them right for lying to the whole nation about their “lost child.”

The Weight Loss Obsession

October 10, 2009 by mvcm5

http://health.yahoo.com/experts/healthieryou/12893/8-foods-that-fight-fat/

The media has such a huge impact on people and many do not realize it, or some do yet it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference to them. Unfortunately, I am one of the many who is influenced by the media in the terms of weight loss. I think I have become so self-conscience with my body that every time I come across an add, billboard, article, etc I have to turn around and read/look at it. It’s sad really, that after knowing everything, people still can’t be satisfied with their bodies, because I know I am not. Yet, who is to blame? Of course, leave it to the media and us (particularly women) for being so vulnerable to this subject.

When I came across this add in the internet it reminded me so much about the many times I have discussed this with adults, friends, and so on, yet it does not seem to stay stuck in my head. Teachers have told us about the media and the way they present a “beautiful” woman to look like. They are all skinny, no stomach or much of anything, and women become so obsessed with that idea of how to appear.

In a way, it bugs me on how society cannot accept a woman for what they really look like, instead they try to send these messages across their heads on how they are supposed to look. It always works! It’s good to have a healthy body by eating the right things, like this add contains, but that is not always the case. A lot of women consult in reducing weight by throwing up or not eating or so on, which is horrible, and all because of those skinny women they see in pictures everywhere. It’s not fair to us. Now I am not saying that I am overweight in fact I am not fat at all but little imperfections seem to get in the way as well.

It’s not that we are not smart or anything, but we become very naïve with this idea, and somehow I wish there was a way we can stop from not feeling confident about ourselves. Instead, be content with what we have.

Fashion Don’t Care

October 3, 2009 by mvcm5

http://omg.yahoo.com/photos/what-were-they-thinking/3271/7

I was searching through the internet while speaking to my best friend, and I came across this picture of a celebrity wearing some riduculous clothing. Even though I don’t like her fashion sense, I do not believe that it should be something that should be posted in the internet.

My friend and I were discussing and agreed on the concept that news like this should not be of concern to anyone. We live in a country, were we contain the freedom to express ourselves however we please. This also includes the way we dress.

Why should it matter, if a certain celebrity decides to go dressed up for instance as a vampire (I’m exaggerating, but I want to make my point)  if that’s the way she/her chooses to dress? Today’s society is all about critizing celebrities and the way they act, and etc. but my question is why. Why should topics like this make it to the top news? Just because one person doesn’t like the celebrities style does not mean another person will not.

In my point of view, I see it as having a lack of uniqueness because the media is trying to send a message to the public of how they should or should not dress. Why should they care? It’s not like they are wearing the clothes anyways. I really don’t like how the media presents this information to the public, because most of us are willing to waste our time on it and try to follow what it says. What happened to the whole concept of being original? If I want to dress the way I want to, I will do it. Personally, I don’t care if the media sees it as a fashion never, it’s not them who I am pleasing anyways.
